Recent Photo Work

Here is a collection of images from recent shoots with my Leica Q.

The Leica Q is a unique 28mm fixed lens camera that requires shooting in a rather specific and creative way. I’m working with it exclusively for a while and hope to add a Leica SL camera to the kit sometime in the future. Help me save up for one by booking a session!

Isaac Couch - 2023

I visited Isaac in his studio as he was preparing for his show “There are Ghosts in These Walls” at Comfort Station. The show runs from August 6 - 27, 2023. Learn more about Isaac here: https://www.icouch.work

I only shot with natural light for this shoot. The portraits were shot in near full sun.

Gabriel Chalfin-Piney & Jess Bass - 2023

I had the privilege of visiting these wonderful artists in Jess Bass’s studio recently. They were preparing for their upcoming Comfort Station show called “When Souls Stick.” These two were welcoming, kind, hilarious, but also serious about their mind-opening craft.

I shot these images all with “natural light” - in this case, meaning what was available in the space. There was a large frosted window on the far side of the studio that made the blank white wall a natural spot for portraits. Candle light in the foreground, combined with the distant window light set a great mood, and a floor lamp doubled as a key light for several shots. What a blast.

Lydia Cheshewalla & Jessica Price - 2023

On one of the first really Spring-like Chicago weekends of the year, I got to hang out with these artists as they worked on their Comfort Station show called, “Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire.”
