Oak & Oscar - Event Photos

I got to spend an evening at Chicago watch company Oak & Oscar’s headquarters during a customer appreciation event. The client requested a photo of all the participants wearing their watches, so I had fun hiking one of my cameras way up high on a C-stand to try to capture the shot! BABS Comedy Club

A new comedy club opened up in Forest Park, IL and I documented a show! It was fun working to capture the event in very low light while not disturbing the audience! (Leica SL Typ 601)

THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH - Admissions Photography

I got to return to my alma mater recently in Sewanee, TN to shoot a variety of photos for University Admissions. A stacked schedule found me at all sorts of classes and events all over Sewanee’s stunning 13,000-acre campus in middle Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau. (Leica SL Typ 601)

LUNCH

A restaurant called Lunch, in Sewanee, TN is worthy of the hype. They serve really delicious food, using local seasonal produce and meats. It’s well worth a visit. I enjoyed a little behind the scenes access photographing staff preparing dishes that I got to shoot, and then eat! (Leica SL Typ 601)

HOUSE ON THE ROCK

I visited the deeply unusual and haunting House on the Rock, in Spring Green, Wisconsin. It’s well worth at least one visit. But be warned that you’re going to need a few minutes to mentally process the experience. (Leica Q Typ 116)

Isaac Couch

I visited Isaac in his studio as he was preparing for his show “There are Ghosts in These Walls” at Comfort Station.

I only shot with natural light for this shoot. The portraits were shot in near full sun. (Leica Q Typ 116)

Gabriel Chalfin-Piney & Jess Bass

I had the privilege of visiting these wonderful artists in Jess Bass’s studio recently. They were preparing for their upcoming Comfort Station show called “When Souls Stick.” These two were welcoming, kind, hilarious, but also serious about their mind-opening craft.

I shot these images all with “natural light” - in this case, meaning what was available in the space. There was a large frosted window on the far side of the studio that made the blank white wall a natural spot for portraits. Candle light in the foreground, combined with the distant window light set a great mood, and a floor lamp doubled as a key light for several shots. What a blast. (Leica Q Typ 116)

Lydia Cheshewalla & Jessica Price

On one of the first really Spring-like Chicago weekends of the year, I got to hang out with these artists as they worked on their Comfort Station show called, “Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire.”
